Lorraine Bonaldi, MSN, MBA, APRN, FNP-BC was born in Tacoma, Washington, and was raised in the Pacific Northwest. She spent over 10 years in San Diego and lived several months in Melbourne, Australia for patient care. She has lived in Reno, Nevada for the past 40 years and calls it her home. She has three amazing and wonderful adult sons, and four sweet grandchildren — three grandsons, and one granddaughter. She enjoys cooking, traveling, the outdoors, and music. She has many treasured friends and colleagues. Lorraine has had the honor of being in the Nursing profession for over 40 years.

Lorraine graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, in 1979, where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN). She completed both a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Nursing Science (MSN) with an emphasis on healthcare management. She completed a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) post-master’s program at The Orvis School of Nursing in 2010.

Her work began at UCSD Medical Center as a neonatal intensive care nurse RN/BSN. In 1981, she worked in the pediatric intensive care unit at the Children’s Hospital in San Diego, now called Rady Children’s Hospital (rchsd.org). During those 13 years, she participated in several research trials, including in-house and community outreach education. Many exciting aspects of her work at CHHC were being part of the critical care Pediatric transport team: ground, helicopter, and fixed wing. Additionally, she was an integral part of the Pediatric open-heart program for both the neonates and pediatric population. In her last year at CHHC, she was the assistant director for the pediatric 50-bed medical — hematology-oncology unit.

From 1990 to 2000, Lorraine was the practice manager for The Center for Plastic Surgery in Reno, Nevada (bonaldimd.com). While there, she was responsible for all aspects of the practice: including one-on-one patient care. She enjoyed management and being able to affect positive change in this part of the health care system.

In 2000, she spent five years as a Hospice and Palliative care Nurse Practitioner for St. Mary’s Hospital, developing their peri-natal, neonatal, and pediatric palliative and hospice care program. When this program ended, she began working as the NP for an outpatient private Mental & Physical Health practice seeing both children and adults.

After 10 years as a full-time faculty member at The Orvis School of Nursing at the University of Nevada, she is now opening a private Concierge Healthcare practice: Caring Hearts & Minds.
